FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS

Flight of the Conchords is a TV sitcom that follows the fictional adventures of real-life Grammy Award winning music-comedy duo Clement and McKenzie as they try to seek fame and success in New York City. They are gormless and socially awkward. They also possess the analytical ability of fungi, but they may just be the most endearing comedic pair to appear on TV in a long, long time. This is a sheer piece of ingenious, ridiculous humor no amount of ink-on-paper can do justice to—you just gotta watch it for yourself. Part of the 5th New Zealand Film Festival. ****1/2 May 10, 9pm. GV VivoCity, 1 HarborFront Wlk., 6377-6860. $10 from GV VivoCity box-office and at AXS stations worldwide.

TAO'S RESTAURANT

This Taiwan restaurant serves up affordable six-course (lunch, $19.90) and seven-course (dinner, $28.80) meals featuring a quirky mix of fusion dishes. While we liked our quite-fragrant winter melon soup, our tender, juicy and nicely marinated pork ribs, and the crème brulee in our seven-course meal, we were not exactly wild about the other dishes. The food and ambience could be much improved to draw a bigger crowd. #B1-10 Paradiz Centre, 1 Selegie Rd., 6339-8858.
